Anakin Skywalker (41 BBY on Tatooine; died 4 ABY on Death Star II, Endor system) is the protagonist of the prequel trilogy of the Star Wars universe, and one of the protagonists of the 2008 computer-animated TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars .
Anakin is the son of Shmi Skywalker. Later in life, he became the secret husband of Padmé Amidala , and the father of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa . He is a legendary Force-user who served the Galactic Republic as a Jedi Knight, and later, after his fall to the dark side, he served the Galactic Empire as a Sith Lord named Darth Vader .
